Enel Green Power in Chile will invest US $110 million in 163 MW photovoltaic projects
A large solar park is coming.
As the company reported in a statement on Monday, Chile energy company Enel Green Power has begun building Lila solar Volta Park in the Atacama Desert in the Antofagasta region at a cost of $130 million (110 million euros) and is scheduled for completion in July 2021.
James Lee stancampaniano, general manager of Chile's Enel green power, stressed that "with the formation of Lila Solar, we continue to move towards an energy matrix based on renewable energy, along with a challenging growth plan, so as to promote a fair energy transition in Chile".
Lee also noted that renewable energy is "an important driver of revitalizing the entire economy through job creation.". "Our commitment is to develop and build this plant and all other plants under construction, with full respect for the surrounding environment and the community."
The installed power of the solar power plant is 163 MW, which is divided into 407400 double crystal photovoltaic panels. When the new park is put into operation in July 2021, it is estimated that 499.7 GWH will be generated annually, thus avoiding the emission of more than 372000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
The photoelectric effect park is part of a series of renewable projects, with 2 gigawatts of capacity to be installed by 2022, half of which are already under construction.
