The Qingyu DC Project implements the major practice of the national new strategy of "Four Revolutions, One Cooperation" energy security. The project starts in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province and ends in Zhumadian City, Henan Province. It passes through Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, and Henan provinces. The total length of the line is 1,587 kilometers. Two converter stations in Hainan and Zhumadian are newly built with a transmission capacity of 8 million kilowatts. With a total investment of approximately 22.3 billion yuan, it will be able to deliver 40 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to Henan every year after it is fully put into operation.


In July of this year, the bipolar low-end system of the project was put into operation first, and delivered power to the Central Plains at a voltage level of ±400 kV. As of December 23, it has delivered a total of 3.16 billion kwh of clean energy. If the entire project is likened to a two-way eight-lane expressway, the "bipolar low-end power transmission" is equivalent to the four-lane opening to traffic. Today, the "bipolar high-end operation" is equivalent to the two-way eight-lane opening to traffic, and the power transmission capacity is doubled.


After the low-end system of the project was put into operation, all the participants actively accelerated the construction of high-end DC system. Before the commissioning of the high-end system, the bipolar low-end system, which has been running continuously for 102 days, was out of power for one month. Cooperate with the installation and access of high-end electrical equipment and adjustment cameras. At the same time, the converter station low-end system equipment and transmission lines were left behind. The hidden dangers of defects shall be eliminated in a centralized manner to effectively improve the health of the project.


The commissioning of the bipolar high-end system of the Qingyu DC project took 23 days to complete. After 502 strict commissioning, the engineering equipment has passed various tests in different operating conditions and fault disturbance drill tests, and withstood full voltage, full current and overload Operational assessment, all equipment functions and performance have been fully verified.


As of the end of November, Qinghai's new energy installed capacity was 21.38 million kilowatts, accounting for 57.4% of the province's total installed capacity. Qinghai has become the province with the highest proportion of new energy installed capacity and the largest centralized photovoltaic power generation capacity in the country. With the continuous increase of new energy installed capacity, Qinghai's new energy power generation has exceeded the province's electricity load recently, and it has created a historic record for Qinghai's single-day new energy power generation to exceed the 100 million kWh mark for the first time.
