solar aluminum kliploks

What Is an Aluminum Kliplok Clamp?
Material: Extruded AL6005-T5 aluminum alloy, anodized (≥10–15μm) for corrosion resistance; fasteners are typically SUS304 stainless steel.
Design: A two-piece (or pre-assembled single piece with set screw) clamp that wraps around the top of the trapezoidal roof rib. The lower jaw sits under/against the inside of the seam, the upper jaw bolts down from above, creating a vice-like grip when torqued (typically 15–20 N·m).
Sealing: Fitted with EPDM or rubber gaskets between the clamp and painted roof surface to prevent abrasion, dampen vibration, and provide a secondary weather seal.
How It Works
1.Position the Kliplok clamp on the raised rib of the metal roof (no drilling).
2.Torque the side bolt(s) to spec — the clamp mechanically grips the seam and resists wind uplift (tested pull-out often 2.0–5.5 kN per clamp depending on sheet thickness and profile).
3.Attach an L-foot or direct interface to the top M8 threaded boss of the clamp.
4.Install aluminum rails (perpendicular to ribs) or use a rail-less system that mounts panels directly to clamps.
5.Secure solar panels with standard mid/end clamps onto the rails.
Key Advantages
Advantage
Detail Zero Penetration
No holes = no leak risk, roof warranty typically stays intact
Fast Install
No purlin locating or sealant; clamps can be positioned in ~20 sec each
Corrosion Safe
Anodized AL + EPDM pad prevents galvanic corrosion with colorbond/steel roofs
Removable
Entire array can be unclamped for roof maintenance
Lightweight
AL6005-T5 is ~70% lighter than steel alternatives
Compatibility & Limitations
Roof Profiles: Must match exactly — a Klip-Lok 406 clamp will NOT fit a 700 or a corrugated/standing-seam profile. Always verify rib height, width, and shape.
Sheet Thickness: Minimum base metal thickness usually ≥0.40 mm BMT; thinner or corroded sheets may deform under clamping force.
Structural Check: Purlin spacing and roof structure must support added dead + wind/snow load — engineering sign-off is recommended, especially in high-wind zones.
Not for: Corrugated iron (use S-5! type clamps), badly rusted roofs, or mechanically locked standing seam (use standing seam clamps, not Kliplok trapezoidal clamps).
Typical System Specs
Wind Load: Up to 60 m/s (≈130 mph) depending on clamp spacing
Snow Load: Up to 1.4–1.6 kN/m²
Design Standards: AS/NZS 1170, JIS C8955, IBC, EN 1991(varies by region)
Warranty: 10–15 years product warranty, 25+ year service life expected
